Listen
Might as well kick off with the big daddy of the flower world, so this week it’s my pleasure to introduce five tracks either made by artists with ‘Rose’ in their name, or featuring ‘Rose’ in their title. Maybe it’s because I’ve been spending a lot of time in Berlin recently, but I’ve been returning a lot to the post-punk adrenaline rush of No More’s anthem, A Rose Is A Rose, which was reissued a couple of years ago by the excellent Dark Entries label. Also kicking about this week: some enchanting chanteuse pop from Emmanuelle Parrenin (the album is also called Maison Rose and is an absolute beauty); a mighty slice of reggae from Michael Rose because right now the sun is shining (check out the Stepping Dub also for the heavy, heavy vibes). There’s also a shoegaze-y deep cut from Frankie Rose, before we finish with the hands-in-the-air euphoria of Rose Lauren’s American Love, which will be familiar to anyone who’s stayed into the early hours at London’s best night out, Horse Meat Disco (a stone’s throw from Floom HQ down in Vauxhall, South London).
Take a listen to the playlist and check out the new tracks below. Also remember to subscribe and listen to the full playlist here!
