The Hyde is a locality located within the London Borough of Barnet, as well as Hendon, and takes its name from a medieval measure of land, first recorded in 1281.

By the middle of the 16th century, the area was a small hamlet on what is now the juncture between Kingsbury and Edgware Road. The Kings Arms was built in the 17th century, and The Hendon Brewery followed around 1850. Established by James Robb, the brewery closed its doors for the final time in 1959. Motor manufacturers Duple introduced a factory to the locality in 1925, and were one of the largest employers in the area, prior to closing in 1970.
